Past Pups & Reviews

Service Dogs of Pearlinhaus German Shepherds updated 01 2020.jpg

These Past Pups above have gone on into Service Work or are  "in training"

and these Non Service Dog pups below have gone on to earn their CGC awards

CGC dogs of Pearlinhaus German Shepherds

An unusually high majority of my families stay in touch and update me regularly, I feel like a very blessed 'puppy grandma'! LOL! ....Some families contact me with training challenges while the pups are growing, some that just have general questions, and most just to share their awesome and often funny adventures and experiences. I encourage ALL communications, especially to resolve ANY issue!

If your pup is not on this page, I just need reminding, it would not be the first time I needed that. LOL!

Or just send me another update!   (w pics! hint hint, wink LOL)

We are blessed to have such wonderful families adopting our little ones!
As supportive as I am with them, they have proven very supportive of me as well.
We really do become a little "family".

My Puppy Families are the BEST there are!

Our many Pup Families over the years have made my decision to stick it out, when some of the beginning was SO rough, so very worth it. I'm SO thankful to these families of mine for encouraging me to push through the hardest year a long while back and continue on, to keep learning more, to keep striving for my goal! To not let the occasional negatives 'get to me'. I couldn't have asked for better families to be a part of this journey in my life! Through the good, the bad, and the ugly, they've encouraged me to stay the course, to be open minded about it all, and I'm so glad they did!! They taught me to turn negatives into positives! A BIG warm thank you to my Puppy Families!

I LOVE being a part of the pups' lives too as they grow and I'm lucky that these amazing families of mine love to share their journeys with me as well.  I support them as long as they want me there ..for life!..and because they LOVE to see their pups' pictures on here, and share between each other, I'll continue to share it all, no matter who thinks it's "too much" LOL!!

Below are some of these families' experiences with their new puppies; from the trip home, during the first days of transition, and as they grow to adulthood and into their geriatric years. Being born and raised as they are around here helps the puppies adjust with the least amount of upsets as they move from our home to yours.
Questions and concerns are expected and encouraged! If any concern comes up, from health questions to training or anything in between, I'm there for you, from day one and for life if you want!.Any time a family needs me for anything I can help with, I'll be there for them. It can be fun, and informative too. And besides, my new puppy families are amazing and warm-hearted people which makes these conversations invigorating!
To all our new families: ENJOY YOUR NEW ADDITIONS TO YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILIES!!

QuincyThank you Ginny, for giving Quincy such a loving, good start at your home. I believe the home nurturing he received with you before we got him, helped contribute to make him into the type of warm, loving, family dog we wanted!

He's magnificent!
Merry Christmas.

Mufasa :

"I was visiting your page and saw you have 2 females pups available out of Yva and Gunther. Can you give me some info on them, including price? What kind of temperment does Gunther have? We have been thinking about adding another member to the family =)

As for Mufasa, oh my!! What a handsome boy he is turning out to be (I am attaching a picture from his 1 year Birthday in May). He is so amazing. Guards the house well but such a cuddle bear! And he has got the facial expressions mastered ;-) We did have some issues awhile back as he was getting very dry skin and small areas of hair loss. Thankfully the vet ran tests and it was just allergies. I have switched him over to a completely grain free diet, added some fish oil and give him occasional baths with shampoo for dry skin. It has made a tremendous difference but it was when I switched foods that I really saw the improvement so grain free it is. And you should see me trying to give him a bath, LOL. He hates baths! The look on his face is hilarious. Also, he has helped us feel very safe while my husband has been deployed. Thankfully he should be returning home soon though. When my husband came home for R&R for two weeks in March I wasn't sure if Mufasa would still recognize him but oh yes he did! My husband barely made it into the front door before Mufasa was all over him, tail wagging crazy. He was so happy and I have had to learn to be careful about saying "daddy" around him or he goes by the front door and pouts. Soon "daddy" will be home though.

NOTE: Anelise was a full refund. At the time I had never heard of the issue, and when we eventually got the records it stated that it could have been from "trauma or injury" according to the vet report.... I do wonder what happened as we had never before had a pup with this nor did we ever get another report from any of our many other families since then.  I wish we had received the full maintenance records to have been able to better determine the possibilities. However, in spite of a lack of these records, we gave the refund anyway.

Mufasa & Anelise

Shaka ...... is doing really well with basic commands. He's socializing really well, he's super mellow in public (usually, you never know!) and has some friends from puppy class and through relatives and friends of mine. All in all he's a perfect little guy and I couldn't ask for anything more. He absolutely adores my mom, those two get along amazing. He sometimes sits at the stairs down to her part of the house just waiting for her to come say hi. It's really adorable. Anyways, I just thought you'd appreciate some pictures and knowing that he's doing well…. he's in perfect health and hasn't had anything more than minor bumps and bruises along the way. Thanks again for your help! He's the best!
Will

**Shaka passed over the Rainbow Bridge in early 2017.  RIP Shaka, I know you were so much loved.

Old Style Family German Shepherds

Kassie

Our baby girl isn't so little anymore. Hard to believe she is already almost 18 months! Thanks for a great pup :)

This is another family that came back for a 2nd pup.

"Rocky" was the runt of his litter but didn't stay small for very long! Just proves that runts don't always stay the runt! LOL!

I think they've done very well with their busy little family, don't you?

Pearlinhaus German Shepherds

GUS

I'm so happy to say that this past pup of ours, Gus, is a local boy. We've got plans to have him bred to  Anja! Very excited to see what this boy will produce! He has a solid black parent (our DDR lined Kira, now retired) and Anja has a solid black parent as well, so we're hoping for a a couple of solid black pups!

JAX

This beautiful guy, Jax, is an amazing dog, although he did go through a rough "teen attitude" phase. His owners had a rough time for a little while due to his willful attitude towards those outside his fence line. He did settle down though in short time, and I'm so proud of them for sticking it out with him instead of giving up on him. These dogs are extremely intelligent and will find the "loopholes" in their training from puppyhood, they can find have a way around the rules rather easily. He is a perfect example of the good outcome of sticking by your dog through the "terrible teen" phase! Once he settled down and was back to his sweet self, they couldn't be happier with him  :)

Zeke (jr.)

Zeke (Zeke Jr.) is another amazing boy....just like his dad, almost a perfect twin! He has the greatest parents a dog could ever have! I'm so lucky to have the families that I have, they treat my babies the way I would want them to be treated..... as part of the family! Although they don't do internet much we stay connected via phone. (and they sent pictures!!)  I LOVE updates, accomplishments and yes even concerns, it keeps me connected to my babies!

Thank you Michelle and Rodney for giving this gorgeous guy such a loving and devoted home

Isis, a working type GSD pup

Placed in a working home with experience and another working GSD ready to retire. Working type pups need experienced people and we were blessed to have this family for this pup

This morning Tom put Isis in my daughters bed to wake her up. Nothing like a hyper licky bitey puppy to get a kid moving. Isis froze and started barking out the window. Not seeing anything, my hubby put his shoes on and ran outside with the two GSDs toward the creek in the direction Isis was barking. Well, there were a few deer that were sneaking through the property, a good ways off. We could not see them, but Isis did. What incredible eyesight and natural tendencies. Pretty cool for such a young pup.

....Just wanted to send you a quick snapshot of Isis. Not a great one, but you
can sorta see how she is developing. She is still quite the go getter.
..... [after an episode of a near trespasser]  If she sees someone she does not like, she will place herself between us and that person and tell them to stay away. It is a bit scary, but we can only try to be positive and reassuring to her so she does not ever go after anyone out of fear or unprovoked. We certainly do not want that trait to disappear, just be [fully] controlled.....

Hi!  Just wanted to let you know that our Isis, Pink from last year, or alpha pup, is still working out great.  We ended up boarding her and the older dog down in Corvallis with a guy that runs a small nice kennel and has a GSD of his own.  She seems to be figuring out the program with the help of our older dog.  She is happy to hang out with us, play with us, hike with us, ride in the gator, and is learning the friend or foe routine.  She is not as much a go getter as our older dog once was, but so far she seems to still have enough energy.  At least she is not as destructive, except when it comes to mousetraps.  She searches and destroys all my mouse traps, sigh.  We are overrun with mice now.  Hope all is going well and all your pups go to great homes.  Loreley

Bex  update 9 22 2015

Just wanted to send you some recent pictures of Bex. He's become a crowd favorite in our neighborhood and loves to play with all the kids and other dogs. He's a really smart dog and loves to be active. Whenever we're working on something in the yard he always wants to help out :)

Re:Charlotte

She's doing great. The other dogs finally started playing with her about 3 weeks ago. She's been to a couple baseball games and went camping for spring break. She loves the attention she gets from everybody. She was 30.5 lbs on her 12 week visit.

Titan (CGC & Certified Service Dog among other achievements, and still earning more)   and now Rommel too!

Titan gets a new brother! His family decided to get another Pearlinhaus pup and I can't wait to see how far this little brother will go under their excellent training and handling. Titan has quite a few accomplishments under his belt so far and is still gaining more, so I don't doubt Rommel will accomplish many goals as well! What a lucky guy ot have been picked for his amazing home!

.

Titan, out of Elsa / Gunther 2015 Litter:  Oh Ginny, We couldn’t have asked for a better fit!  Long drive home with lots of potty stops and a bit of crying.  Got here and first thing followed Smidgen out the doggie door and pottied!  Came back in on his own, had his dinner, went back out with her via doggy door and pooped!  Has been coming in and out all evening at his leisure without a hitch.  John mowed the lawn and he followed him around without being scared and met the kitten with ease.  He has started already coming to his name (with a clicker and treat of course) and then sits (because that’s what Smidgen has to do to get it).  Going to be fun!  Thanks again for leading us in the right direction...Carol

May 2016:Titan gets his AKC STAR Puppy certificate application this week and then on to CGC work…plus he is entered in AKC Obedience Rally Novice for June 17-18

Aug. 8 2016: He receives 2 AKC titles (RN & CGC and is certified Service Dog now!! YAY! Go  Titan!!

Her two complaints were about his imperfect ear, and tail when excited.. :(

09/2017

Remember Titan?  Well, he just now got his AKC, ATT temperament test certification and passed ALL areas with a strong (best there is) response.  He is now helping me with my fractured tibia and when I say “help me” he comes and stands in front of the chair and then braces so I can use him as a “pull up” to get up from a sitting position.

Next up is Beginner Novice obedience finishing and then also the CGC Urban ranking.  You should be very proud of your “little” 100 lb wonderful dog..I sure am.

Jan 2019Rommel (their 2nd Pearlinhaus pup) passed his AKC STAR PUPPY certificate today and I will send to AKC today. Wanted to tell you first    On now to CGC next.  He is 61# at 6 months
Titan will finish his Beg Novice Obedience title next month

March 2019 Titan's accomplishments so far: Star Puppy. RN. BN. CGCA. CGCU. AKC ATT (Temperament Test) and 2 legs toward Rally Intermediate

CAPTYN

Thanks so much Ginny! We will definitely be looking into it! It's been a fun and busy day for all of us! Captyn definitely is getting his sleep. So far we have taught him to come, stay, and sit within just a few hours! He's learning so fast and plays so nicely with Teo, we couldn't be happier! Well keep you updated! Thanks a bunch!

Gretchen is our 2015 girl that stayed on into 2016 for training. SO SMART!! They were very pleased with her when she went home at 12 weeks old. I walked them through the few steps of them learning what a new puppy is all about. They will now continue her training with them and their own trainer

"Thank you Ginny! Such great tips!"

...."Thank you so much for all your help! She's a smart little girl and my husband is really enjoying her :)

RJ (and now "Samson" as well)

R.J. has matured so much since losing his best friend. He is showing a maturity beyond his years. After losing JerryLee, he went into a bit of a depression. He is such a gentle and kind soul. I also noticed that Brandy and Rascal [her two other dogs] were also deeply affected in his passing. Ginny then introduced me to a bundle of spunk and fur. That is Samson. Samson brought out the playful part of R.J. that had been missing since Jerry. These two are now hardly ever apart. R.J. is as tall as Jerry was, [a large 100 plus lbs in his prime] but, not the huge frame that he was. [RJ is only about 1-1/2 years old, he is still in his "teen" frame]  R.J. has shown a deep connection with me. I had fallen on the ice this winter walking the dogs. I looked about me to...you know it....make sure nobody saw. Lol. Anyway, I was on a sheet of ice. Getting up was going to be tricky. But, I got R.J. close enough to me to use as leverage and he patiently allowed me to use his body as a secure leverage and I was back on my feet . No problem. Good job, R.J.!!!! Samson just got his 3rd parvo shot, yes, needs them here. Parvo is rampant here. He is a stocky 32 pounds at just 3 1/2 months. A clear bill of health! Yippee. He is showing himself to be quite smart and also quite a smart-alec. lol The other day, I was headed to town so I wanted him out of my bedroom. He was laying on the floor. Refused to move. Rather than pick him up, I nudged him with my foot. Should encourage him to get up off his butt and move, right? NOT! I literally had to slide him across the floor across the bedroom WITH MY FOOT. and then into the hallway. The whole time, he lets his body go completely limp and just lays there grunting the whole time.. The little stinker.

Samson as a baby here with us.

CHASE

This is one gorgeous boy isn't he?  He has a very bright and productive future ahead of him! He takes to training so well!

.....Well, his training was put on hold while he recovered from.....get this:... a broken toe!  LOL! That is a first! He's recovered and doing well but had to wear a cast for a while. His girl is absolutely amazing with him though and he flourishes under her TLC .....

Mari

This was a very special pup and landed in a very special home where she had been waited for for a very long time! Sometimes we don't know how things are intended to work out until the pieces fall into place and this is just another example of that magic. ....Do your job well Mari, your family needs you! I'm so very proud of you and your person!

Hi Ginny,

Just a quick note to tell you how much we are enjoying Xander!  We call him Xander Salamander.  Well, that is one of his many names.  He graduated puppy school and now will be doing drop in til he is allowed in kindergarten.  He had his last round of shots Friday.  I have attached a video of him burying his chew toy in Kevin's suitcase and a pic below of his handiwork with the newspaper while our old gal sleeps.  Hope all is well with you and your family.

Max G,

Update: Dec 2017: and now another pup, a sister to Max! This sister is the last of this Bloodline. Our retired stud dog Zeke is the grandfather to these pups. We're sad to see the bloodline end (they were AMAZING Family and Service dogs) but it was time to retire Zeke and we have no pups of his, so we will lovingly watch these Zeke grandpups grow up and hopefully become as amazing as their grandsire Zeke.

Updated NOTE: Although Zeke is retired we DO have a grandson of his that is local to us, that has not been neutered, so we might still have this line continue!! YAY!!

RIFF An Anja Gus pup

Hello, I know its been a while but I just wanted to give you an update and thank you for the puppy.

Riff is freaking amazing! I really won the dog lottery here and got exactly what I was looking for in a dog. He is so well behaved, listens really good, is super smart, and just all around amazing!

.........

The dog trainer I have cannot stop raving about how awesome and smart he is for his age as we are only in puppy 1 and halfway through the training we have gone on to puppy 2 distraction and range command training. Today she highly recommended that if I did Puppy 2 training that we accelerate him to train for the CGC test which I am very much considering.

One of the things he is soooo good at is WAIT. I can put his food down and he will not eat until I say OK or he will wait until I tell him to get in the car, get out of the car, wait for me when he is off leash on a trail. I am SUPER proud of him and cannot express how happy I am with this pup!

.........

Thank you again so much for the awesome kid/dog he really has made a huge impact on my life already.

10/2018 .....Good news! Riff just completed the AKC STAR Puppy exam and passed with flying colors. The trainer and I are now gonna start working on getting him up to speed to take the CGC exam in 7 weeks or so!

I am soooooooo proud of this pup.

** As of Dec 18th the CGC level has been mastered and passed!! WTG Riff!!

He was chosen by and will be trained by a professional trainer to hopefully fill some big shoes as a Service Dog! Can't wait to watch his progress as he grows!

Good Luck Baron!

His later update  (2019) tells us he's headed for his CGC soon! WTG Baron!!

Late 2022 Update: Baron lost his person to a long time ongoing battle with an illness. Baron is with a Foster and could be a Foster fail or could be re-homed to the right person

Anja/Gus 2018/19 litter.

She's a perfect example of a strong minded working line dog under the training of a strong determined family... They didn't give up and now she EXCELS!

These bloodlines THRIVE under the right training!

Titus L. Anja/Gus 2018/19 litter

Titus is a much loved pup and has  a devoted family. When pups enter the "teen stage" of not so good behavior lots of families give up and get rid of their pups. This family and SO many other families stick it out and at the other end of that teen stage, they have FANTASTIC and beautiful full grown dogs. This family is one of many of our families that are the perfect example that early training and sticking to it pays off.

.

This one was the most dominant one of his litter, had no fear of even the big things or flying things or noisy things and was the first to give chase and catch the prey toys. He was born dominant and was always such an absolute handful when he was a baby LOL...... THIS wonderful, dominant work minded gorgeous pup is why we have changed our screening process for the work minded pups. If you're not going to give them a job, have no trainer in place with you from the get go,  and want these working minded pups to be calm house pets, these pups are NOT a good fit for you. They will not thrive in a family that doesn't have the proper job lined up, proper background for training experiences.  You might have known a 'couch potato' that was out of working lines for instance, but that is not the work MINDED pup, and the next pup from working lines will most likely be a 'work MINDED' pup!.... A good working line dog needs a consistent and knowledgeable trainer such as a  K-9 handler, Agility trainer, SAR trainer, SOME kind of professional training experience etc. Those that have these in place are good prospective homes. All other style of home lives are better off with a less intense personality. After what happened to this beautiful boy, we now more seriously screen the prospective homes

After losing him, now when a person is asking about a work minded pup, credentials WILL be asked for. Either personal experience working a K-9 in some sort of work, or have a trainer that has the experience. These are high prey drive dogs and

with the right handling from the get go will be fantastic dogs,

but without that handling, a great, top work minded dog can be ruined

This is the beautiful Layla.
Layla was the last of her litter to go home and she did NOT like watching her siblings leave! Thankfully she only had a couple of hours of being alone before she too was in the loving arms of her new family. We can't wait to see more pictures and get more updates as she grows!

Happy S. Aug 2020 update (condensed)

I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since we last wrote you about Happy. He is [] a treasured member of the family! He is so good natured and friendly with everyone he meets – dogs and people included. He is very trustworthy off-leash; ... responds well to verbal commands.....definitely motivated to keep his people pleased with him….  He is definitely a pack dog, always wants to be together with us, following us around the house and he is thrilled to come along on errands. He is great in the car and is a perfect gentleman at Home Depot, the homebrew store we frequent, the pet store, restaurant patios, and other dog-friendly vendors.

Happy is great at the dog park and [ ] is a confident and capable playmate with any dog now – from chihuahua all the way up to great dane. he is gentle with the little dogs and seems to be socially savvy, even with the grumpy ones…… Happy loves water and is a natural swimmer. He also loves chasing a ball, often catching it mid-air. Now that his growing has slowed, he is past the ‘uncoordinated teenager’ phase and is quite fast and agile…… He is watchful of the neighborhood and lets us know when something isn’t right. Even when he was just a few months old, he alerted us to a rat in the garden, solving the great mystery of the tomato thief! We sure feel safe with Happy around.

.Anyway, we just thought we’d give you a quick update on how Happy is doing. We are absolutely delighted and in love with him. Thank you for taking care to breed such wonderful dogs; we really can’t thank you enough

Update  2021

Bronco is great! He definitely is in his annoying teenage stage but we're used to having annoying puppies!  His sister and him get along great-- she is definitely the boss!  He goes on many adventures and socializes at the dog park daily-- he's an amazing and friendly guy!

Arya

08/25/2022

Arya (Belle x Boss 2021 pup)  has been a rock star. We had almost 30 friends and their children over on Tuesday. I brought Arya down after we were all finished eating, handed some of the kids Arya treats and told them to give her commands. She was perfect. After that she played with them and she was so good.

I was so proud of her.

More updates will be added as I get them. There are quite a few of you, along with your reviews, and I know how much you all (especially the kids!  LOL) like to see the pictures on the internet so keep checking back to see if I've added yours yet....it's coming I promise!  :) Remember to please remind me if I haven't added it yet!! If you're part of my puppy family, you know me by now and know I would WELCOME your reminders and input! :)

Thank you for your patience!
